Back at it


I'm back :D

Actually I've been back for about 2ish weeks.

I took a much longer break from working on the game that I thought I would. To be honest I nearly gave up on the project entirely as it started to become less fun, which was a real shame. This was mainly due to cluttered code, and a mountain of work I wasn't looking forward to. I thought long and hard about it and decided that I still wanted to continue with the project, but instead I would switch over to Love2d. I feel like I'm still pretty new to C++ and sdl2, and although I've made a ton of great progress, it was just becoming difficult to use and get things done quickly. At the moment my time is precious and I want to put the minimal amount time into making this game as possible, while still coming out with a decent game. Love2d and lua is something I have more experience with, and in about a day and a half I already got the new project to where I left off in the old prototype :P

So don't worry, I haven't abandoned everything! :D Development will still continue and hopefully soon enough we'll be able to relive those awesome starland td days again.

Apart from that it actually plays like a real game. There's waves, one set of enemies, tower upgrades, tower selling and money handling mechanics, plus a few other things (those are the biggest things at the moment). I still have to do all the other tower mechanics and implement more than one enemy (lol), lots of tweaks and balancing, bug fixing, polishing and then we can start looking at multiplayer. Multiplayer will be the very last thing that will be implemented, as I need to get everything as right as possible before I go down that road. The idea I have for it won't be overly complicated, but will still require a fair amount of work to get running (maybe about a week, or two). I don't want to give too much away though ;)
